Bones and Raw Food Diet

by Sasha on July 28, 2010

Proper nutrition for pets is extremely important; not only is the average American overweight, but their dogs and cats are as well!  Overweight pets will have less energy and enthusiasm, and will lead to shorter life expectancy coupled with increased vet bills. A simple nutritional scheme will help keep your feline and canine friends in great shape — the new bones and raw food diet.

Modeled by nutritionist experts, this diet functions exactly as the name suggests.  An animal’s normal intake of food should not resemble that of a humans; starchy, dry kibble and feed is hardly an effective way of ensure that a dog or cat receives the protein, minerals, and fatty acids their diets naturally require.  Indeed, dogs and cats should receive barely any carbohydrates in their diet at all, as natural predators gain the most energy efficiency by processing meat.

Raw meat, then, is ideal for any pet.  Processed meat found in normal pet food saps a great deal of the protein from the meat.  While humans need relatively little meat in their diet — as vegetarians prove, even capable of going entirely without — there is no true substitute for dogs or cats.  This is due to the complexities of their stomach and digestive systems, which should exclusively function to process animal parts.

Bone matter gives added calcium that is otherwise difficult to find in pure meat.  Animals in the wild often consume bones, yet the fear is that pets will choke on them.  Ground up into the meal, a bones and raw food diet provides an all natural approach to your pet’s eating habits.
